E. VAN WINGEN NV from Evergem, Belgium, was established
in 1958 and through a history of diesel engine sales
which started in the marine market and evolved into
the industrial market, the company has grown into
the leading supplier in Belgium of generating sets
and other industrial diesel and gas engine based applications.
The link with Perkins dates back to the late fifties
when Ernest Van Wingen, father of today’s general
manager, Jean-Pierre Van Wingen, started working with
the Stafford engines.
From the early days E. VAN WINGEN NV (EVW) have believed
in continuity at all levels, including company management
and product support. This explains why EVW have built
up impressive knowhow about Perkins 4000 Series engines,
having sold, installed and serviced them for so many
years.
Using their knowhow and dedication to customer support
EVW have realized that specialization in the field
of applications would bring a considerable added value
to their products. EVW’s dynamic quest in developing
new and special activities has earned them recognition
in the industry.
References in the field of special gen-set applications,
such as CHP, peak shaving, rotary UPS (D.ups) and
power stations demonstrate that EVW have built up
considerable expertise. Having focused mainly on the
Belgian market – although export projects have
also been successfully implemented regularly –
EVW have managed to force a promising breakthrough
for their products in the Dutch market.
The variety of applications has found buyers from
all areas of the market. For mains failure applications
EVW’s customer base ranges from any kind of
factory to leading European telecommunications operators
(Belgium’s Belgacom has renewed a two-year single
source contract with EVW). The in-house developed
D.ups no-break system is a typical product for critical
environments such as airport runways and data back
up centers (installations at Belgium’s Central
Bank and at various international airports). Combined
heat and power systems have been sold to hospitals
and production plants where heat recovery is essential
for the industrial process. Here EVW was among the
first to successfully market Perkins’ new 1
MW 4016 E61 TRS gas engine.
Although high-end custom projects represent a good
part of EVW’s turnover, the company also focuses
on a more standard product range. Recently EVW’s
standard gen-set range has been updated and extended
to better cater for the market’s needs, but
as ever with EVW’s recognized quality label.
EVW’s dynamic team of well over 40 people and
the off-the-shelf availability of spare parts, as
well as a solid know-how, are doubtlessly the cornerstones
of success in product supply, but no less in the field
of customer service.
E. VAN WINGEN NV are based
in Evergem, near the Flemish city of Ghent. In their
modern premises, consisting of a versatile workshop
with state-of-the-art equipment, and the spacious
engineering and office administration area, the company
is preparing for a promising future.
